A military commander, Captain Moroni led the Nephites to battle against the Lamanites in the book of Alma. He was highly admired by Mormon who wrote that "the very powers of hell would have been shaken forever" if "all men had been, and were, and ever would be, like unto Moroni" (Alma 48:17). He may be best known for hoisting the Title of Liberty to rally his people to fight for "our God, our religion, and freedom, and our peace, our wives, and our children" (Alma 46:12).
